On April 1st APPNA and Committee for the Young Physicians (CYP) organized a state of the art carrier counseling seminar for the YP at the spring meeting in NY. It was enthusiastically attended by over 80 YP and many APPNA members. Speakers included vice president of ECFMG, three program directors from US, an immigration attorney and a financial adviser. Presentations are available on CYP website www.cyponline.net. In addition CYP raised pledges over $15,000.00 to help YP housing in NY. After the meeting Steven Seeling Vice President of ECFMG wrote “I was impressed by the maturity and enthusiasm of the physicians in the audience. My only regret is that I was unable to stay longer and spend more time with you, your colleagues and the young physicians.” Dr. Haq Nawaz one of the Program Director wrote “I feel that the event was extremely well organized. I enjoyed it very much and would love to do it again if you need me to. “ This is the new spirit and maturity of APPNA CYP. We believe we have excellent slate of candidate coming to US and very committed mentors to help them. All we need is little more push to guide YP in their application process and improve our relationship with main stream US program director and department of home land security. We have commitment and plan to do that. We need your help to be a mentor and support CYP efforts.
